Crazy boys!

Well, we have almost made it through our first week of school and back to work. I must admit, the boys have done awesome. I, on the other hand, have had my moments! I was not expecting to have a meltdown when leaving Cannon. He's my third baby! I should be over this by now, but I clearly am not!! I was fighting back the tears when I was leaving with Carson and Cade on Tuesday am (my first day back at the office) and Carson said, "Mom! You aren't going to cry at my school, are you? That would be so bad!". Great! He's four and I already embarrass him!! He's got a lifetime to get used to that! Anyway, the boys are having a blast and can't wait to tell me about their day when I pick them up. They fight over who gets to talk the entire way home. Carson is so impressed with this little girl in his class that can actually whistle! That is just HUGE to a four year old. So, guess what we've been practicing for the last hour and a half?? Cade, well, he's Cade and I am just so proud of my little man. He hasn't shed a tear at school all week and Mrs. King says that he's being so good. Shocking. He's saving it all up for the afternoons when he gets home...that hasn't been so fun. Cannon is getting more love that he knows what to do with! Ms. Nilza dotes all over him and sings to him in Portuguese, gives him longs baths and takes him on strolls. He's in heaven! In fact, he's going to be spoiled rotten!

This is so strange to me, but the boys, especially Carson, have a new found love for salad. All kinds of Salad. We were at Don Pico's on Friday night with Katy and Ridge and Carson insisted on ordering a salad. After a couple of those lethal margaritas, I said, what the heck...order it. He did and he ate every last bite of it! We had salad for dinner on Monday night and tonight, I picked up chick fil a for dinner and guess who's salad he polished off (after he ate his own dinner). I'm not complaining! I'm all for him eating his veggies, I just think that it's weird. The only veggie that I ate until college was ketchup. I plan to save this picture and use it to prove to them in a few years that they do indeed like salad.

One big benefit to having Nilza here in the afternoons has been letting the boys play out on the driveway and on the sidewalk. She watches the big boys while Cannon and I prep dinner. They have managed to run down the batteries on all of the ride on toys. Cade has even learned to some what steer his McQueen car. Maybe there is hope for him yet?Carson loves pushing his baby brother around in the stroller. So what if he can't see where he's going. Here is Cannon looking like a total mess in the playroom this evening. He is drooling like crazy, covered in carrots and super tired. He loves to watch his brothers play though.

And he really LOVES to splash in the bathtub.

When Katy was here last weekend, she got all three of the big boys matching jammies. I would have loved to have gotten a picture of all three of them, but it was just too chaotic to coordinate that at the time. Next time we get them all together, we'll do it! Here are Carson and Cade though, looking ever so cute. Thanks, Aunt Katy!! Love you!!

I am looking forward to long weekend full of QT with all four of my boys!

First Day of School!

Well, we survived! Today was the first day of Pre-K3 for Cade and Pre-K4 for Carson. Cade has Mrs. King, who was Carson's teacher last year and should be nominated for Sainthood. She's unbelieveable!! If anyone can get Cade excited about anything other than being physically attached to his Mommy, they are next to God in my book!! He did wonderfully today! Carson has Mrs. Bloundt, who is adorable. She is just so, so sweet and I think will be a wonderful fit for his personality. They both made new friends today and have each talked non-stop about their new best friends! I was a little worried about Carson because I wasn't able to get him in the same class with his friends from last year, due to our late sign up. He is quite happy with his new buddy though and introduced me when I went to pick him up. Here are some pics of them this morning.

Cade with his typical "cheese"!
My handsome Carson. My attempt at a pic of the two of them together..Carson pulling weeds and Cade putting leaves in his hair. In other news, Cannon tried carrots for the first time last night. At first, he was totally unamused, but he seems to have warmed up to them now. We also have a new nanny/housekeeper that started today, and I have to say, I'm in love with her! I can't believe that I didn't go this route ages ago!! She is super, super sweet to the boys and my house is spotless. I am heading back to work this week and I think that she is going to make this transition a lot easier on me. I have been losing sleep over the thought of leaving Cannon already, but Ms. Nilza is a saviour.

Here, Cannon is looking at me like, "Is this what you were so excited to feed me? Stinkin' Carrots???".

But he warms up...And clearly isn't lacking in the nutrition department...What a mess!!

AND, a big special thank you from Cade to his super cool friends, Wilkes and Jay Banks! They were so sweet and gave him a punching bag and boxing gloves for his birthday. The boys have had a swell time beating the hell out of each other with them, and abusing us as well. In fact, sweet Nilza wasn't here for 15 minutes this am and Cade went after her with a glove. Hopefully, she'll be back tomorrow!! If not, I can't say that I blame her.
Taking a cheap shot at Daddy!

Look at their faces in this picture! You can just see how hard they are trying to hit each other!

Seriously, Wilkes and Jay Banks, you are the greatest! Who knew that these gloves would provide hours of entertainment? ;-)

We hope that everyone else had a great first day back to school today!! We're super sad about the end of summer, but looking forward to an awesome fall and lots of changes in the Mitchell house!!

Samey, Samey, Samey!

Okay, I have always heard that twins can develop their own little language. Well, apparently, so do siblings that are close in age. Carson and Cade are constantly saying these words to each other that mean absolutely nothing to Matt and I, but they find HILARIOUS....I mean, gut busting funny to them! One of their most common words is "samey, samey". This can be used for anything that remotely matches! Mostly, they want to dress samey, samey. Eat the same color popsicle - samey, samey...you get the picture. Anyway, it might make some of their crazy pics make a little more sense! Now, Matt and I use that phrase, like it's normal. Matt bought all three boys matching shirts the other day and proclaimed, Samey, SAMEY, SAMEY as he pulled them out of the box to show me. We're clearly losing it!! In this picture, Cannon was rolling around on the floor in the game room, and Carson and Cade started rolling around with him...samey, samey.

We have had a pretty slow week around here! I went to Dallas last weekend to visit the girls. Such a tame, tame girls' weekend...nothing like those of the past!! That's what happens when we get old and don't want to waste precious time that could be spent sleeping on boozing and solving the problems of the world!

Cannon has been sick for the past week. He went to see Dr. Wilber when Cade had has 3 yr check up last week b/c he was so snotty. I had to take him back yesterday and he now has his first ear infection! Poor guy!! Poor mommy too b/c he hasn't slept through the night in over a week. I had been so spoiled by him and his 12 - 14 hour nights. Hard times now! Oh, and I find this quite funny...he is 5 mos now and weighing in at 19lbs, 5 oz. He gained a pound last week and he was sick!! He's sitting up, rolling everywhere and putting everything he can get his hands on in his mouth.

This is a new trick too...sucking his toe! Forget the thumb, the toe is much more interesting to him these days!

Cade. What to say about this picture? He's just not right sometimes! He loves to run around with buckets on his head and spin himself until he is beyond dizzy. Real safe.Carson has been trying to sweet talk me out of naps all week by offering up his cleaning services. He can be such a sweet, sweet boy sometimes, but down right TERRIBLE when he wants to be. Here, he is showing off his rocket tattoo that he procured at Chick-Fil-A today. As for the rest of the week? We're looking forward to a visit from Katy & Ridge and a weekend full of birthday parties! Monday is back to school for the big boys!! They need it, and so do I!

Happy Birthday Cade!

Cade's 3rd birthday was on Monday, and I am just now getting around to posting some pictures from his big day. He and Cannon have both been sick this week, so playing nurse to them has consumed most of my time.

We started the day off by going to Flip N Out, even though Cade has a super snotty nose and had no business jumping around and getting sweaty. It was his big day though and that was what he wanted to do. Who am I to not induldge him on his birthday? They all had a good time there and we got out of there before he got too crowded.

Here are Carson and Cade both crammed on this motorcycle thing. And all three boys after having lunch...I had planned to take them to Big Humprey's to make their own pizza, but they were pooped, as you can see in this picture. We opted for take out instead! Then Daddy came home early to take us all out to dinner....Cade's choice....Jake's Grill! They love that place. Oh, and Cade has an obsession with having to have a blue gumball anytime there is a gumball machine. I think that Matt spent about $5 on gumballs trying to land him a blue one...he finally did. Cade would SCREAM every time one came down and it wasn't blue. Normally, I'd make him deal with it, and I was ready to have him deal with red or green or even orange, but Matt gave in due to the special occasion. We got him a cookie cake and his favorite...vanilla ice cream with sprinkles back at the house. His favorite girls came over for a very last minute celebration and were sweet enough to sing to him!

And they let him show off his new race track.

Cade is so proud to offically be three! He keeps pointing out a three whenever he sees one and proclaims, "That's my number!! I'm three!". We went for his 3 yr check up yesterday and he is finally in line with his height and weight. He used to be much higher in the weight percentage than in the height percentage, but he is now 50/50 for both. Can't beat that! He's just perfect and super cute to boot!

Cade's 3rd Birthday Party

We had Cade's third birthday party on Friday night at Noah's Ark Pool. He had a great time!! He is so excited about being "almost 3". He even asked to go sleep back upstairs after getting up to pee at 5 am on Friday - "because I'm almost 3". Let's hope that it works!! Maybe this will be the magic trick that gets him to stay upstairs all night long. We'll see! In other news, I cut my hair super short. Here is a picture of Mommy, Daddy and the Birthday Boy. Cannon has been a trooper all weekend! He didn't have much of a nap on Friday at all and it was super hot outside at the party. He snoozed a little and then was all smiles. He also made it through another pool party yesterday and stayed up pretty late last night too. I can't believe how laid back he is...most of the time.

Cade totally enjoyed the bright blue cupcakes!

Here are all of the kids on the top of the waterslide.

Tomorrow is his real birthday and we have all sorts of fun things planned for him. Carson and I went out alone this morning to find him the perfect present. He's been so sweet to Cade all weekend in honor of the big birthday. He has even let Cade pick his favorite song in the car, over and over, without protesting about it. That's huge!! Carson also wanted to go out to breakfast with just me this am to get his favorite - the chocolate chip pancake from IHOP. So we did it. It was so nice to spend one on one time with him. He's so grown up these days!!

Our Baby is on a roll!

We have had a crazy week at the Mitchell house! Matt has been gone, we survived TS Eduoard (what a waste of time!!...I had pulled all of the plants off of the patio, along with the furniture, and removed stuff from the front of the house too - I'm lucky my plants didn't burn up in the garage!), and the boys have been going to Vacation Bible School. Cade opted out of Bible School on Monday. He FREAKED when I tried to leave him there. We came home and I just didn't really play with him and kept telling him what he was missing out on. We went back and checked on his VBS class when I picked up Carson and he was hacked off that he missed out. Carson telling him how much fun it was didn't help! So, it was cancelled on Tuesday because of the MIGHTY STORM, but he has gone to VBS Wed. and Thursday and totally loved it! I think that he's even having more fun than Carson! He actually asked me to go put him down for a nap in the middle of his lunch today.
In other news, Cannon started rolling from his back to his belly on Monday! He's full on mobile. If you set him down, he rolls off and he is not where you left him if you walk away! Time to pack up the legos, hot wheels, and all the other tiny toys floating around here that the other boys seem to want to leave out all of the time. Cannon is also sitting really well, unassisted! Here is a picture of him sitting pretty! Good thing that he's getting that mastered because he has about out grown the bucket carseat.

Cade has developed a CRAZY fear of thunderstorms. He watches for clouds and is constantly concerned about if it is going to rain or thunder. He just melts down if he (or any of us!) is outside and it's about to rain. Anyway, it thundered during his nap yesterday and he high tailed it downstairs. He was sweet to Cannon though, who was busy rolling around my bedroom and drooling (I think he's cutting two bottom teeth).Carson decided it would be funny to put Cannon in the cowboy hat while I was cooking dinner last night. Doesn't he look like his daddy with GBS out at the rodeo with that expression on his face?I also let the boys make cupcakes yesterday (Can you tell it's raining and we are STIR crazy??). They were actually pretty neat about making them, but eating them, it was another story. I don't know what possessed them to do this. That was not fun to clean up. It was so bad that Cade sneezed and chocolate came out of his nose. Also - notice Carson's VBS shirt. He LOVES it. I had to wash it so that he can wear it again tomorrow after he got chocolate on it. He was mad because he couldn't sleep in it last night.

We're all ready for Daddy to come home tomorrow! Also, Cade is fired up about his birthday party tomorrow night!! It's a big weekend for our little man!

Holy Smokes! Literally.

So, the boys tried to burn down the house today. We want to sell it....not burn it. I thought that I smelled something burning near the kitchen (again - we had the a/c unit burn up last week and the smell was coming through the kitchen vents). Anyway - I went on about my business of frantically cleaning for our open house. I left with the boys and Matt called me over at the Blakes to let me know that the boys had thrown a pair of their underwear up into the light fixture in the dining room. They were smoking. HOLY SMOKES! Had we left for a house showing and been gone a few hours (as we often do), we could have burned the house down!! Here are the famous undies.

In this next picture, I was trying to help Cade with the potty, talk on the phone and feed Cannon. When I walked back in the room, I caught Carson feeding Cannon his rice cereal. Notice he put a bib on himself too. They were both so messy after that....the bib was a good call on his part! And Cannon belly laughing at Carson....The boys pulled out as many blankets as we would let them on Friday night and "carpeted" the downstairs. Cade had a hold on Carson here.

Then, on Saturday am, they decided to hide in Matt's hamper.

And then fight over it...

It has been a LONG weekend at the Mitchell house....and then Daddy is gone all next week. Luckily, the big boys are going to Vacation Bible School this week!! Praise GOD!!!

Gophers and Shopping

We made a quick visit up to my Mom's on Wednesday. They have these piles of dust everywhere that the neighbor says are from Gophers or Moles. I wouldn't know....we surely don't have those in Pearland! Anyway, you can see in this picture what the boys like to do about the mounds of dirt.
Poppy took the boys for a walk down the street and they found a dead snake. That was probably the highlight of the entire trip. Cade got tired and thirsty and Poppy had to give him a lift back to the house.

Last night, I gave Cannon a bath and then went to put on his lullaby CD, but the boys had switched it to something else during the day. They both went running into the nursery and broke into their terrible white boy dance. It needs video to do that justice! However, I don't know how to work my video camera, much less how to upload clips. Maybe another time! Here is chunky Cannon in the tub last night. And a picture of me & Cannon. Katy - this is what I tried to send to your phone last night.....this shirt is a 9 mos and it is too tight on him.

Today, they were being TERRIBLE at home, so we had to get out of here. We went up to the new Pearland Town Center, which by the way is super, super nice. You don't even know that you are in Pearland! They were being really good, probably because they were near having a heat stroke. HOLY HELL it is hot out there! Pushing around 95 lbs of kid in the stroller in 100 degree weather was more fun that I was up for! In big news though, Cannon actually rode in his carseat and not the Baby Bjorn. Maybe there is hope for him yet! The boys all loved the Learning Express store and Cade picked out about 20 things that he wants for his birthday!

In other news, I am beginning to face the music that our house isn't going to sell before school starts. I am so bummed that we won't be up in The Woodlands for the boys to start at their new school. However, I called Eagle Heights today and they have a spot for them. It's a great school, so we can't go wrong there. Speaking of school, that definitely paid off for Carson. He must be starting to read a little bit. He turned Thomas on for Cade this am from the DVR. There are about 20 things recorded, so he must have recognized "Thomas" to select that one....there are no pictures on there. I about fell over!
