Downtown Aquarium

Sarah and I took all of our kiddos down to the Aquarium yesterday am. We loaded all five kids into the Suburban and headed south. That was a circus in itself! The weather was great though and the kids had a blast. That was the first time that I had been down there and it was pretty neat. I'd definitely take them again. They of course loved the fountain. I'm surprised none of them fell in.

Carson and Jack were skipping around on this thing and I figured we were near disaster.

Cade being silly...

Cade posing outside the tigers.

There were huge white tigers there.
Most of the kids looking.

Cannon just chilled in his stroller...The boys LOVED riding the train!! You can't tell by the expression on his face, but Carson was thrilled. My boys were a little wiped out from partying at the rodeo the night before, but they had a good time.Even Cannon got to ride!
Then, we came home and they all three took a nap. We went back out and enjoyed the awesome weather after they got up. Cannon's new favorite spot is on top of this little table outside. I have to watch him like a hawk these days!
My big walker!! He is still crawling to get across a room, but he's walking further and further each day.
Whew!! I am glad that spring break is over!! I feel like that was a whirlwind of a week!! We even had a visit from Aunt Jen last night. Good times!!

Pat Green at the Rodeo!

We took Carson and Cade to the rodeo on Thursday to see Pat Green. Their iPod shuffles are loaded with his music and they love listening to him. Matt made them some adorable t-shirts to wear out there. Here is Cade's rear view...how stinkin' cute is that?
And I LOVE this picture that I took of Carson.Carson and Daddy...another great picture!A couple more before we left...I don't particularly like this picture of me, but put it on here to show how tall Carson is getting...and I had on 4 inch heels. We of course stopped by the carnival first! They boys rode the serpent and loved it. Carson was in the front car and Cade and I were behind him. Notice Cade's hands up on the second picture. And carnival games! I'm not sure how this worked out, but they walked away with light sabers...I looked at Matt and said, "Great! You armed them with all of these innocent people here". They did pretty good with them though. Then, the mechanical bull riding!!! Cade was old enough this year to do it and was so excited!! Carson went first. He was riding like a pro but then got bucked off.Cade was so cute up there! He got bucked off too...it was more like he slid off...One of Carson riding a ride.A quick cheese on the way to the stadium! Then, with the show, we scored big time!! Our friends, Scott and Meredith were there and have a suite. We were able to go up there and join them. The boys LOVED being in there because they could move around and get up next to the glass for a great view. We loved it because we actually got to visit and catch up!! Great time!!Cade loved chatting up Scott.

Carson loved hanging out with Meredith, and I'm sure that her shucking peanuts for him for hours was scoring her some big time points!Oh, and these boys were SO excited when Pat Green came on!! They were standing there, watching intently at first and then started singing along and dancing. Here are those freakin' weapons their Dad gave them.Cade was even playing his air guitar! They were really cracking us up...All in all, a great evening with our big boys and great friends! We can't wait to do it again next year!

Kids say the darnedest things!

Well, since my big boys are on Spring Break this week and Pearland is not until next week, we decided to go make a visit out to Eagle Heights. Mrs. King called last week and the boys have been on me to take them to see everyone. It was wonderful and I realized how much I really miss that place!! Anyway, Carson's teacher, Mrs. Bloudt had saved some things for us that we managed to get out without before leaving for Christmas break and our move. One of these things was a journal that they had started at the beginning of the year. There was open space at the top for drawing and then at the bottom, the beginning of a sentence and then the kids filled it in (Mrs. Bloundt would write it for them usually...). For example, "At home, I live with MY MOM DAD AND BROTHERS". "My favorite color is RED". So on...anyway, one day, they were talking about sounds around the house. "At home I hear.....". Mrs. Bloudt was cracking up as she is trying to describe Carson telling her what to write, "It's like a mixer and you use it to make Margaritas!! You know, Mommy always drinks margaritas!". Mrs. Bloundt was kind enough to fill in "MIXER" and not "BLENDER". SO, at home, he hears the blender and it is ME making drinks?? Really? Lies, all lies. I don't make them in the blender at home...I drink them on the rocks. So there! He went on to tell her that his Daddy just drank beer. Lies again...he drinks ritas with the best of them and (beer too)! Some kid piped up in the back, "What's beer??". At least my kids aren't sheltered! Did I mention that it was a Baptist School? Good times.

On that note, Happy St. Patrick's Day to all! And for the record....not one beer or rita was consumed by me today!

Cannon's 1st Birthday Party

Well, my baby boy is officially one!! It is so bittersweet!! I am so happy for him to be growing up and reaching new milestones, but also sad that we are officially done with babies at the Mitchell house. We just about have Cannon off of bottles. He is moving to one nap a day too, which I am actually thrilled with! We have our mornings back for running around and fun and then come back for naps in the early afternoon. He's walking and seems to be picking up new words daily. Today, he was trying to say "Peek a Boo!" while hiding his eyes with his hands. He was saying, "Teep a poo!". SO STINKIN' CUTE!!
Us snapping a few pics before the chaos began!

The whole family!! Aren't I lucky to be surrounded by all of these handsome guys?
We had a cowboy themed party since it is rodeo time around here! I've always wanted to have a rodeo party for one of the boys and luckily, Cannon's birthday fell just at the right time!

His giant boot cake that Nana made for him. Notice a little smudge missing from the front? Cade woke up from his nap and came into the kitchen with icing all over his face. I asked him if he got into the cake and he said, "Nope! No, I didn't!". Hmmmm.....

Cannon enjoying the cake. He didn't really dig in and go after it. Though, being kid #3, it isn't like he hadn't had cake before!!Plus, who needs cake when you have cheetoes? A boy after my own heart!
I had gotten all of the boys these belts made with their names on them and they were adorable! Cannon's, unfortunately, is a little too tight! I had it on the last hole and he was squeezed in it, so I pulled it off of him.

The weather, well, it sucked! It was one of the coldest, rainiest days we have seen all winter!! AND, to make it even worse, we've been enjoying beautiful days in the 80's and then we get this on a day when we will have a house full of kids?? I had rented a big moonwalk. The big kids went out in it and freezed their tails off.

I really don't know how they could stand it out there!

Luckily, Ruffles the clown showed up, so we had some inside entertainment as well! Ruffles did tattoos, face (and arm...) painting and balloon art.

Notice Carson and Cade's belts. Love 'em! AND, Matt made them Pat Green t-shirts that they will be sporting at the rodeo this week. That's a whole other topic, but those boys are ECSTATIC about going to hear Pat.

Cannon was all about biting the balloons... We are so lucky to have such great friends! A lot of our friends from all over came to celebrate Cannon's big day. We don't exactly live close to anyone anymore, so it was so sweet of them to come. Cannon was trying to swipe Jay Banks' hat here...

He had a great time chatting up Dylan! (And stealing his hat too...)

THEN, Cannon just woke up looking like a full on toddler today. Look how old he looks!

He opened all of his presents this am, with the help of his brothers..

We had a great party, despite the crappy weather!! THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!!!

In other, non-birthday, news:

The big boys had go Texan Day at school last week. Carson looking just too handsome!

Cade looking so stinkin' adorable! And Batman jammies! My boys really love their super hero pj's. Cade's superman jammies with the cape were in the washer tonight and he was HACKED off!
We have a crazy week ahead of us! The big boys are on spring break, I'm at the height of busy sesason at work and Matt is still volunteering out at the rodeo. GOOD TIMES!
