Cannon's 1st Birthday Party

Well, my baby boy is officially one!! It is so bittersweet!! I am so happy for him to be growing up and reaching new milestones, but also sad that we are officially done with babies at the Mitchell house. We just about have Cannon off of bottles. He is moving to one nap a day too, which I am actually thrilled with! We have our mornings back for running around and fun and then come back for naps in the early afternoon. He's walking and seems to be picking up new words daily. Today, he was trying to say "Peek a Boo!" while hiding his eyes with his hands. He was saying, "Teep a poo!". SO STINKIN' CUTE!!
Us snapping a few pics before the chaos began!

The whole family!! Aren't I lucky to be surrounded by all of these handsome guys?
We had a cowboy themed party since it is rodeo time around here! I've always wanted to have a rodeo party for one of the boys and luckily, Cannon's birthday fell just at the right time!

His giant boot cake that Nana made for him. Notice a little smudge missing from the front? Cade woke up from his nap and came into the kitchen with icing all over his face. I asked him if he got into the cake and he said, "Nope! No, I didn't!". Hmmmm.....

Cannon enjoying the cake. He didn't really dig in and go after it. Though, being kid #3, it isn't like he hadn't had cake before!!Plus, who needs cake when you have cheetoes? A boy after my own heart!
I had gotten all of the boys these belts made with their names on them and they were adorable! Cannon's, unfortunately, is a little too tight! I had it on the last hole and he was squeezed in it, so I pulled it off of him.

The weather, well, it sucked! It was one of the coldest, rainiest days we have seen all winter!! AND, to make it even worse, we've been enjoying beautiful days in the 80's and then we get this on a day when we will have a house full of kids?? I had rented a big moonwalk. The big kids went out in it and freezed their tails off.

I really don't know how they could stand it out there!

Luckily, Ruffles the clown showed up, so we had some inside entertainment as well! Ruffles did tattoos, face (and arm...) painting and balloon art.

Notice Carson and Cade's belts. Love 'em! AND, Matt made them Pat Green t-shirts that they will be sporting at the rodeo this week. That's a whole other topic, but those boys are ECSTATIC about going to hear Pat.

Cannon was all about biting the balloons... We are so lucky to have such great friends! A lot of our friends from all over came to celebrate Cannon's big day. We don't exactly live close to anyone anymore, so it was so sweet of them to come. Cannon was trying to swipe Jay Banks' hat here...

He had a great time chatting up Dylan! (And stealing his hat too...)

THEN, Cannon just woke up looking like a full on toddler today. Look how old he looks!

He opened all of his presents this am, with the help of his brothers..

We had a great party, despite the crappy weather!! THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!!!

In other, non-birthday, news:

The big boys had go Texan Day at school last week. Carson looking just too handsome!

Cade looking so stinkin' adorable! And Batman jammies! My boys really love their super hero pj's. Cade's superman jammies with the cape were in the washer tonight and he was HACKED off!
We have a crazy week ahead of us! The big boys are on spring break, I'm at the height of busy sesason at work and Matt is still volunteering out at the rodeo. GOOD TIMES!

Opening Day!

Well, the Mitchell clan was up and at 'em early this morning for Opening Day at ORWALL. We had a blast!

The boys were so cute and had so much fun, so I have tons of pictures.

Guess what number Carson is this year?

Carson before the parade.

All of the kiddos on his team are adorable!

They had a little parade and were all introduced on the field.

Carson got a new bat bag from his Daddy in celebration of the big day.
And it is as big as he is!

We squeezed in a little play time before pictures and the game. Carson decided to jump out of the play set with his new friend Jay.Cade giving me the look before he ended up getting stuck up on the top of this thing.

Poor sweet Cannon was tuckered out.

He powered through and stayed awake though! Barely...

Cade waiting for big brother's game. He can't wait to play next year! He suits up and goes to practice (and tackles the big kids...he gets baseball and football confused, apparently...any kid with a ball is apparently free to be tackled in his book.).And our big guy's first hit of the season.

Here he is about to run to 2nd.

He played pitcher today and did great! He almost caught a ball in the air!Looking baseball ready!

We are looking forward to a great baseball season!! Our first official game is Tuesday night!!

It's good to be #3!

Well, Cannon just lucked out on the birth order around here. He's getting to enjoy all sorts of good stuff that I wouldn't have let fly with the other two. He'll probably be getting away with murder for the rest of his life because the other two will have already beaten me down on everything.
Here is my sweet pea enjoying a popsicle outside.

And sharing some ice cream with Carson (they are eating it at the same time off of the same spoon). He will yell and scream at the big boys if they are eating something that he wants and they won't share with him. Carson almost always shares. Cade, it's hit or miss with that one!

Cannon is getting so big! Check out the blue eyes in this one...He is absolutely adorable, if I do say so myself!
He loves playing outside! And loves going down the little slide...
He is getting better and better at walking every day. It helps that he has a lot of willing helpers! Here he comes on his own!

Carson's class has been learning about space this week. Here are Carson and Cade as astronauts. Carson's teacher is so sweet and made one for Cade too when we went over there today.Cade, poor Cade! We had round two of his allergy testing done today. NOT FUN. I had to numb up his back before we went and cover him in saran wrap. He was a good sport about that! They poked and poked his back and he was SCREAMING in pain. It was awful for him and I was about to cry because I felt so bad for him. I won't even bother listing what all he allergic to...it's just easier probably to say what he isn't allergic to. Poor guy!
He is probably going to start getting injections in a few weeks. We're going to let him try to forget about today's visit for a while before going back in there. Unfortunately, he isn't a candidate for the allergy drops because his allergies are so severe. I have to take him in for a cat scan next week to check his sinuses. That should be a blast. He has to be completely still for 10 seconds. I've never seen him do that and not quite sure that it is possible. And, even MORE fun is that we get to completely eliminate corn from his diet for 2 full weeks. That means nothing with corn syrup in it either. I'm not sure how many labels you have read lately, but it's in everything from juice to cereal. I'm going to have to do some heavy preparation for that and just get meals and snacks lined out for him.
Here is Cade, being Cade. Things were too quiet and I went in my bedroom to find an entire newspaper covering the floor in my bathroom. He was sitting on the potty, going through the paper.

And another one of Cade being Cade. His hair has gotten so long that I have started blowing it dry with my round brush. Matt and I both love it and don't want to cut it. He does need a slight trim though and I have got to get both boys in this weekend for that!
Carson has opening day out at ORWALL tomorrow, so I'm sure that my next post will be full of pictures of our baseball star. He's so excited!!
